Habitat Scout

I’ve always loved learning about the outdoors. As you might be able to tell from the content on this site, I’m always digging around for interesting datasets and new ways to explore the outdoors with modern technology.

Naturally, this has lead me to dream about all sorts of tools and apps that I wish existed. After years of dreaming, I’m getting serious about coding and I’m ready to start building.

So, what exactly is Habitat Scout? It’s an app designed to help you make sense of the woods around you. Simply put, Habitat Scout shows you exactly where to find specific species of trees in your forests.

Foraging for walnuts but don’t know where to start? Pull up the black walnut layer and see exactly where to begin your search. Looking for sugar maple trees? Check out the sugar maple layer. So on and so forth. Layers for hundreds of species of trees, at your fingertips.
